Why do you want to teach overseas?:
My previous experiences teaching abroad have demonstrated to me the value of EFL teaching done successfully, particularly when teaching a native language. Teaching abroad will allow me not only an opportunity for professional development but also for personal exploration South Korean culture, helping me to better understand my students and develop exciting lesson plans which help develop their language skills to a maximum.
Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:
As I am already familiar with delivering taught EFL courses to students of multiple nationalities both abroad and in my home country, I believe I will be able to bring my current knowledge of EFL teaching within the CEFR framework to other nations successfully. The opportunity to develop my current skillset of creating interactive, engaging and productive lesson plans is exciting to me as I begin my career.
Teaching mixed-nationality classes most recently as an EFL teacher in a summer camp has demonstrated to me the huge potential of well-adapted lesson plans, effective teaching materials and curiosity towards other cultures and languages in the classroom. This is an aspect I am keen to bring to my next position, particularly when narrowing the focus onto one nationality.
Additional information:
Additionally, I have worked both paid and voluntary positions where I upheld extensive safeguarding protocol, namely as a welfare officer where I was responsible for the safeguarding and wellbeing of over 65 students in my house. Similarly, as a volunteer I have worked in homeless shelters where volunteers followed health and safety protocol and managing risk; I am therefore comfortable and familiar in both educational and welfare environments within the wider school ecosystem.
